Radiant Cut Diamonds
The Original Radiant Cut Diamond combines the classic elegance of the traditional emerald cut shape with the sparkle of a "brilliant" cut diamond. Prior to the development of the Radiant Cut, in 1977 by Henry Grossbard, people attracted to the emerald cut diamond often had to compromise on the brilliance of the diamond due to the cutting technique. The Radiant Cut, however, combines the attraction of the retangular cut diamond with the cutting techniques used to shape the brilliant cuts of the round stones, pear shapes, ovals and marquises.
Until the development of the Radiant Cut, all diamonds with straight edges, like the emerald cut, were shaped using a cutting technique called the "step cut" which results in a stone with a glassy appearance. Diamonds with rounded edges are faceted with triangular facets, known as the "brilliant cut." By combining these cutting styles, the natural brilliance of a straight edged diamond was able to be shaped while retaining the brilliance and sparkle of rounded diamonds.
The results... are brilliant, sparkling, natural diamonds...
